A 22-year-old Rochester man has been charged in connection with the death of a 20-year-old Rochester man.
Police say Jerry Stanley Junior is facing second-degree murder for a fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning. Officers were called to Rochester General Hospital where the victim, Kyle Georgia, later died.
Investigators say he was with a group of people at Durand Eastman Beach when a fight broke out with a second group. Police say Stanley stabbed Georgia multiple times in the upper body. Someone drove the victim to the hospital in a private vehicle.
Chief James Sheppard said, “Mr. Georgia was out celebrating his birthday and obviously alcohol played a role and as a result a dispute occurred that resulted in ultra violence.”
Chief Sheppard said they made the arrest based on evidence at the scene, witness accounts and what he called technology at the scene. We asked him what he meant by that but the chief would not get specific.
