Diversity was the goal behind the first Latino community fair in downtown Rochester on Saturday.

The Vamos! Public Relations Firm, based in Pittsford, hosted the event, which was open to everyone regardless of their background. The fair was held at the Rochester Academy of Medicine on East Avenue.

Organizers say the idea of this community fair is to create diverse and beneficial opportunities for local businesses and organizations and help create opportunities for local professionals.

"Our hope is by introducing a Latino business owner to a non-Latino business owner, that can help them establish a positive relationship or a job opportunity or something else that will be beneficial," said event organizer Tricia Cruz.

Some of the organizations that took part today include Keuka College, Catholic charities, and the Latino Dance Theatre.
