Throughout the month of May, several community leaders will be taking time out of their schedules to read to children as part of the Hope Hall School's 11 week focus on reading.

And Wednesday, Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard came to the school on Buffalo Road in Gates as the "Read-A-Mania" guest speaker.

The program runs from March 18 through May 31 and so far, students have read 868 books. The program will conclude with a celebratory picnic at Pineway Ponds Park on June 17.
