The man charged with murdering a College at Brockport freshman is in court for a hearing Friday.
Clayton Whittemore is accused of beating his girlfriend, Alexandra Kogut to death in her dorm room at the College at Brockport in September.
His attorneys say he suffered an extreme emotional disturbance the night of the attack.
Friday morning, four witnesses had taken the stand including a 911 dispatcher who says that Whittemore called 911 the night of the murder from a Thruway rest area in DeWitt wanting to turn himself in. He says Whittemore told him he did something really bad and also asked for the death penalty and wanted to know if he could request it. That dispatcher says Whittemore's father also called 911 because Clayton called asking for a pistol so he could kill himself.
Sandra Doorley, Monroe County District Attorney, says she has a strong case against Whittemore. According to court paperwork, Whittemore admitted to killing Kogut. In the statements, Whittemore told a jail deputy, “She started pushing me and yelling at me. So I pushed her back against the wall to get her to stop. She wouldn’t stop pushing me, so I started punching her and just snapped. I kept hitting her over and over with my fists.”
Whittemore has been in custody since September.
