Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and Rochester Mayor Tom Richards announced Monday that four teams will be invited to make proposals on the design of a new passenger train station at the site of the current Amtrak station at 320 Central Avenue in Rochester.

The four teams include about a dozen members from Rochester’s architecture, engineering and construction industry.

Officials say this is a major step toward replacing the 35-year-old temporary facility with one that's handicapped accessible and meets requirements with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
