Business leaders had the chance to learn what they can do to get noticed in today's economy.

They attended the 2013 "Eyes on the Future" economic summit at Saint John Fisher college Wednesday morning.

City and county leaders were on hand for the event.

Robert Safian, the editor and managing director of the magazine "Fast Company," gave some tips to companies in his keynote address.

He specifically talked about the average time an employee stays at a company.

"We have a myth in our heads about the way careers flow, right? You're going to get a job some place, you're going to work your way up, work there for 10 or 20, 30 or 40 years. You're going to retire with a nice set of benefits, go out to the golf course, right? If that world ever existed, it does not exist anymore," said Safian.

People who took part in Wednesday night's event also got a chance to network with other local business leaders.
