New York's state police will be honoring some of its member during ceremonies in Albany.

The agency says its 37th Annual Awards Day Ceremony and Memorial Service will be held Thursday morning at its police academy.

Superintendent Joseph D'Amico will present the Brummer Award, the highest for bravery, to Trooper Daniel Hoffman of Troop K in Poughkeepsie. Hoffman and another trooper were investigating a report of a home invasion in the town of LaGrange last May when one of the five intruders hit Hoffman with a sawed off rifle. Hoffman shot and killed the man as the other suspects fled. They were all caught in a dragnet of officers from four counties.

Among the other honors, another 14 investigators and troopers will receive Superintendent's Commendation Awards.
