A high school freshman is being honored for “Doing the Right Thing”.

School leaders say Aaron Pelc didn't think twice about trying to help an elderly man. Pelc was on his way to school when he noticed a man lying in his garage last January. He stopped and tried to help the man, but the man did not respond. He immediately told his principal as soon as he got to school.

School security officers were asked to stop by. They discovered the man was dead and had been there for at least eight hours. Officers say dozens of people had passed by, but Pelc was the only one who tried to help.

Pelc attends Irondequoit High School and currently plays the piano, guitar and the drums.
