Do you want to see how Microsoft has decided to tweak Windows 8? You can, starting today.
The company is releasing its free update to its newest operating system - an update designed to address some of the problems that those using it on PCs and laptops have complained about. The Windows 8.1 update will let users start in desktop mode automatically - something that it couldn't do before. It also restores a button that is similar to the old "Start" key. It doesn't work the way the old one did - but it's a familiar icon to many Windows users.
The version available today is a preview version for Microsoft's partners and other technology developers - but anyone can download and run it.
