The number of candidates being nixed for a job due to social media posting is on the rise.

More than 40-percent of hiring managers who regularly use social media to research candidates report finding information that's led them not to hire someone. That's up nine-percent from last year. and comes from a CareerBuilder.com survey.

The top two reasons for not getting the job- posting are provocative or inappropriate pictures or information and posting about drinking or using drugs.

So search yourself and see what comes up -- even on a friend's site. Make sure to check your privacy settings and edit yourself.
