The family of a local boy in need of a heart transplant held an event Sunday to help raise money for his medical expenses.

Dominic Pasquantonio was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart-Syndrome (HLHS) and is currently first on the transplant list for a new heart.

A Zumbathon Sunday at the Ontario Community Center in Wayne County will help his family with travel expenses and medical costs not covered by insurance when the time comes for the transplant.

Dominic's mom says despite his heart condition he tries to live life as normally as he can.

"He's actually doing okay. He feels better on the IV medication which has helped . He's 12 years-old and although he can't swim or be in the water right now, he's able to still do stuff that he normally did,” said Megan  Pasquantonio, Dominic's

As soon as the family is told that a compatible donor heart has been found they will travel to Mount Siani Hospital in New York City where the surgery will be performed.
