Route 590 at Blossom Road is back open Monday night after a deadly crash involving a tanker and another truck Monday afternoon.
A tanker truck, driven by Daniel Baker, of Wyoming, NY was headed westbound on I-490, going toward the 590 northbound ramp. Police say Baker lost control and rolled over the concrete barrier onto 590 north. The tanker fell on top of another truck, which was also heading northbound on 590. The driver of that truck was killed. Police have not released the name at this point.
There were a lot of cars on the road when the crash happened and some people witnessed it, including the mother of one of our photographers. News10NBC spoke with Lisa Loson, of Irondequoit, who says it could have been her. Loson says the truck landed on the vehicle behind her and she saw the whole thing.
Loson said, "First, I heard the noise. It sounded like garbage cans clinging. I looked up in my rear view mirror and when I looked up I saw the truck land and then it blew up. I couldn't believe what I saw as I kept driving I though really."
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
