The former executive health director of Monroe Community Hospital stood before the Monroe County Legislature Tuesday night and made a statement.
Todd Spring was fired from that position in May. At the time, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said the leadership change came after an external review by health officials, who noted some problems with the way things were run at the hospital.
In his statement, Spring said neither he nor anyone under his direction did anything improper in dealing with what he calls "a extremely unsafe situation" involving a former resident. He also says an investigation into this incident by the state attorney general's office found no civil or criminal wrongdoing.
Spring said, "One would have hoped that 13+ years of stellar service to the residents and staff of MCH and to this community would have resulted in a bit more credibility and confidence from this body and others, but sadly that was not the case."
News10NBC reached out to Monroe County for a statement, but a spokesman says the county has no comment on it.
