A 31-year-old Canandaigua man is facing charges after police say he tried to steal from Finger Lakes Refuse on Green Street in Canandaigua.

Investigators say an employee who was arriving at work on June 24 caught Shawn Ganoe attempting to steal items from the business. News10NBC is told the employee was injured in an altercation with Ganoe as he attempted to stop him from leaving.

Police say they eventually caught up to Ganoe and after a short chase, officers were able to take him into custody.

He is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary and assault.

Investigators say Ganoe is also responsible for a slew of other crimes including two burglaries, several larcenies and incidents of criminal mischief.
