Non-profit organizations from across the area all part of the United Way's 2013 funding drive.
Representatives from close to 60 organizations met Tuesday morning to receive the final grants from the United Way of Greater Rochester.
The final grants fund a combination of programs designed to meet our community's needs and the drive totaled close to $5.8-million. Programs like Meals on Wheels, which provides food delivery for seniors with limited mobility can use these grants to expand services and provide services to more people.
Phil Shippers of Meals on Wheels said, “This will help us to significantly reduce that waiting list and we'll be able to provide more meals and because of this support we're getting from United Way it does lessen the financial burden of providing meals on a regular basis.”
The United Way narrowed the field from more than 110 applications for grants.
