News10NBC told you about a local company manufacturing the technology used in surveillance drones. Right now, the FAA only allows police and fire departments to use drones, but that will change in 2015.
Use of these robotic planes will open up to commercial use at that time. We wanted to know how Rochester residents feel about this technology. Do they feel like drones would be an invasion of privacy?
This topic was the subject of the latest Dixon-Schwabl research poll.
When asked, "When it would be acceptable to use them?"
The majority of responses said police could use them in hostage situations or they could be used to protect citizens from terorrists. Only five percent said it's never ok to use drones.
