A 64-year-old Clarkson man is facing charges after sheriff’s deputies say he lied about being stabbed.

William Haines is charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.

Sheriff’s deputies say Haines called police to his home on July 25 and said two men walked into his garage, forced their way into his home through a side door and assaulted and stabbed him.

Investigators say Haines made the story up.

Haines was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of bail.
