Did you go to the New York State Fair on Thursday? According to our affiliate WSTM, if you did, you were part of a low turnout on opening day.

Fair officials tell WSTM less than 42,000 people attended the fair Thursday. That's lower than last year's opening day, when more than 46,000 people showed up for the first day festivities.

According to WSTM, this is the lowest turnout since 1990, which was the first year the fair opened up on a Thursday.

No word from officials on what they believe led to the lower numbers. But President Obama's visit to the city and rain may have had an impact.
