Progress at the former Midtown Plaza site Tuesday. Windstream officially dedicated its new office building Tuesday morning.
The company that took over for PAETEC Communications held a ribbon cutting at 10:00 a.m. New York Senator Charles Schumer was on hand for the ceremony.
News10NBC talked with Windstream CEO Jeff Gardner about what made officials want to keep the company in Rochester.
Jeff Gardner, President & CEO, Windstream, said, "It's a very important area for us. We did the PAETEC acquisition just over a year ago and a big part of the attraction was the people, the city, and so it's very important for us to be a part of that. Our employees are very exciting about being here, I think it's going to allow us to attract more people into our company that will make us stronger."
As for the rest of the old Midtown Plaza, the tower is expected to be turned into retail space and housing. Work on the green space around the buildings will begin in the fall.
