It's been a year in the making, but Wednesday, The Hillside Children's Center unveiled its commemorative brick dedication.

The community came together to raise $14,000 to commemorate the center's 176th anniversary. The bricks were placed around the center's flag pole at the Monroe Avenue campus.

President and CEO Dennis Richardson talks about what these donations mean to Hillside.

Dennis Richardson, President & CEO, Hillside Family of Agencies, said, "Well, I think it's most meaningful in that these are individuals that care about the long term commitment of Hillside. So we have been here for 176 years these are donors who want us to be here for many more years. So the funds from the bricks will go towards our continued sustainability."

The Hillside campus just underwent a $22 million 12 year renovation project that was completed last fall.
