More than 200,000 people each year are hospitalized because of flu-related complications and countless more suffer the aches, pains, fevers and chills of the flu at home.
This morning, Rebecca Leclair was live at Highland Hospital where a flu clinic was held for staff members.
Doctors are encouraging everyone to get a flu shot now because it takes approximately two weeks after you are vaccinated for immunity to set in.
This year’s vaccination will protect against four strains rather than the typical three strains. Doctors believe this should help reduce the number of infections.
Doctors recommend everyone six months of age or older get the vaccine.
