Do you complain about taxes every time you open your paycheck and see how much money is taken out? Small businesses take a hit every time the state legislature levies a new tax or enacts a regulation that costs them money.
In News10NBC's series, "New York State Exposed", this week, we focused on small businesses and what they are up against. Today, we found more evidence that New York has a long way to go toward being "business friendly".
The latest survey from the Tax Foundation out Wednesday morning ranks New York 50th for Business Climate. This is the second year in a row. New York is last, followed by New Jersey. Up at the top of the list, Wyoming and South Dakota. Because those states have tax codes that help companies do business. The foundation compared tax rates in all states, how much regulations cost business and whether they're double taxed.
