Children whose parents use an online personal health record are more likely to get to all of their well check visits.
More and more healthcare systems are using personal health records that allow patients to keep track of their appointments, request prescription refills, check lab results and communicate with doctors.
A Kaiser Permanente study found parents who used these online records at least once were at least twice as likely to bring their babies to all six recommended well care visits by 15 months of age.
Researchers say personal health records are an effective tool to remind busy parents to get their children to the doctor even when they are healthy.
