IRS warns of new scam

The IRS says crooks have a new plan to steal your money and they are doing it using the agency’s name.

Officials say thieves impersonate IRS workers and call taxpayers saying they owe money that has to be paid immediately with a transfer or a credit card.

They can fake the phone number of the IRS so it even appears in your caller ID and they might even have part of your social security number.

So how will you know if it's a scam or the real thing? The IRS says it will never require a wire transfer or ask for your credit card number over the phone.
