Across the nation Americans will honor the sacrifices and service of the armed forces on Veterans Day today.
President Barack Obama plans to attend a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The District of Columbia will honor two of the original Tuskegee Airmen with the Congressional Gold Medal and a wreath will be placed at the African American Civil War Memorial.
Veterans Day Observance Ceremony at the Canandaigua VA. Following the ceremony, international recording artist, songwriter and producer Jim Worthing will perform a special patriotic concert to salute veterans. Event is sponsored by Knights of Columbus.

Join Veterans of the American Legion Doud Post 98 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1457 as they provide this special memorial service to honor our community veterans. The service will conclude with a gun salute and the raising of the flag by the memorial on the front steps of the Gates Town Hall. The public is invited to come and to honor our war veterans.

RIT will honor their Patriots, with a Veterans Day breakfast.

Amerks offering 2 complimentary tickets to active and retired military personnel. In addition, you can purchase additional tickets at $10 a piece.

Rochester closures: There are several closures in the area in observance of Veterans Day. Rochester City Hall, neighborhood service centers, recreation and community centers, as well as City branch libraries and other administrative offices will be closed. Refuse and recycling collection will be on its regular schedule for the week. If you have questions, please call 311.
The Stars and Stripes Vet Run 5K will take place at Stewart Lodge in Mendon Ponds Park. The traditional 5K road race is for all ages, along with a boot camp style fun run for younger kids.

Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse
Delta Sonic is offering free Super Kiss Car Washes and free oil changes to all military veterans and active service men and women on Monday, November 11. Customers simply need to tell the car wash cashier or oil change technician that they are active or a veteran of the armed forces.
Champps Americana at Eastview Mall is offering veterans and active duty service members will enjoy a complimentary Champps hand-crafted burger and fries. Guests will need to provide proof of military service. Restrictions apply.
