Study: SNAP might not be enough support

A Harvard study says the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) might not be enough support to put food on the table.

Researchers say a large amount of people enrolled in the program say they still have low food security. The study found no nutritional improvements for SNAP participants compared with people who don't rely on the program.

Experts say many SNAP members support incentives to buy healthy food, and restrictions on unhealthy food.

Earlier this month SNAP benefits were reduced because a recession-based boost expired.
