The Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York presented a check for more than $75,000 for research on pancreatic cancer.
The money came from the organization’s “Step it Up to Cure Pancreatic Cancer” Walk held last November. It will go towards the work of Dr. Aram Hezel at the Wilmot Cancer Center.
News10NBC spoke to Hucky Land, Director of Research at Wilmot Cancer Center, about what community contributions like this mean for their work.
Land said, “It's even so important for everybody to know that research doesn't start in the lab, it starts out in the community with people supporting us. We’re very grateful and this support is essential for us to do work that is nowhere else done really in the world.”
The Pancreatic Cancer Association will hold its fifth walk to raise money this November. For more information on the walk, click here.
