The Seneca Falls Police Department is warning its residents and businesses about a scam involving utility companies.

According to police, the caller will tell the homeowner or business they are behind on their account, and they should purchase a "Green Dot MoneyPak Card" to avoid their service being cancelled.

Police say the caller will tell the person to call back after they get a card.

Police say you should never give account information over the phone, and if you do get a call, make sure you check with your utility company before taking any action.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department at 315-568-4850
