Over the course of the blizzard on Wednesday, the hardest working people were those trying to keep our roadways clear. News10NBC spoke with plow drivers to see what they were experiencing on Wednesday.

Many of those plow drivers are working double shifts, but they say residents are helping out by staying home. Driving around the city Wednesday night was really light. Some areas felt like a ghost town. People did heed the advice to stay in and stay off the roadways.

For people who did venture out, some found themselves in situations where they were stuck in snow drifts. That's not because the snow plow trucks weren't out, the empty streets made it easier for plow operators to attack the snow without too much traffic.

We're told thirty city plows are out. We caught up with one city operator who told News10NBC he's in the middle of a 16 hours shift. He gives credit to Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, who he says is sparing no expense to quickly clear the streets and sidewalks to keep people safe.

Dennis Spencer, Senior Operations Worker says, "Under the new administration and management, they're serving their purpose.

He says, "We got extra drivers out here, the manpower is here now we just have to fight the storm."

Again, Spencer says it has helped tremendously that people stayed in tonight. He says that is the biggest problem operators encounter when it snows.
