A 57-year-old Geneva woman has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

News10NBC is told the Ontario County Humane Society was called to a home on Route 14 in Phelps to investigate a report of several cats that were found dead. Investigators say when they arrived, they found four dead cats and three cats in need of veterinary care. We are told there was no food or water at the location.

According to investigators, Monnie Zepkowski was the owner and caretaker of the cats and failed to provide sustenance for them and it appeared they were starving to death.

Investigators say the three living cats were taken to a vet where they are being cared for.

Zepkowski is due in court on the charges at a later date.
