Deputies say a Canandaigua man fell asleep at the wheel of his car and ended up in the Canandaigua Lake outlet off County Road 19 in Shortsville. It happened Tuesday night.

According to our news partners at the Messenger Post, deputies say Wesley Russell Albrecht was driving on County Road 19 in the Town of Hopewell when his car went off the road and wound up in the water.

The Shortsville Fire Chief says a neighbor pulled Albrecht out of the car before firefighters arrived. We're told Albrecht was taken to Clifton Springs Hospital where he was later released.

Albrecht is facing a charge of driving while ability impaired. He's due back in court at a later date.
