Students at the University of Rochester are remembering Juliette Richard, the 19-year-old freshman died from what her father says was a drug overdose.

Sophie Zhang says, "When I first heard the news, I was like 'what? I can't believe its true.'"

Zhang, who was a neighbor of Richards, expressed the sentiments of many other students who knew Richard. The student died Saturday night. On Saturday, dozens of students gathered at the interfaith chapel on  campus to say good bye.

Classmate Leah Fails says, "Although I only knew her briefly and only talked with her a few times. But every time I did, you could tell that she was really listening to what you were saying. Heaven really gained an angel in Juliette."

Richard's father told News10NBC his daughter died of a drug overdose. and a source close to the investigation tells us the drug was heroin.

As part of the vigil on Thursday, a video montage told the story of a young woman who lived life to the fullest.

Her closest friends described Richard as funny, someone who loved to shock people. A generous person, who noticed the little things about others and always showed she cared. Her death has been challenging to understand.

Zhang says, "It's hard to imagine a girl I was just talking to the other day, passed away so suddenly."

Dr. Denise Yarbrough, the Director of Religious & Spiritual Life told us, "At this age you think you're immortal. As you get older you realize you aren't. But they're still in that age of believing you are. It's hard to accept and the picture you saw in the montage -- a young, healthy, vibrant woman. None of them expected this would happen, nor did she, I'm guessing."
