The deadly ambush in West Webster on Christmas Eve 2012 sent shock waves across the country. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka, two West Webster volunteer firefighters, lost their lives that day.

On Tuesday, more testimony in the case of the woman accused of buying the guns police say the gunman, William Spengler, used to kill those firefighters.

The most compelling piece of evidence Tuesday was the text messages from a phone registered to Dawn Nguyen. Prosecutors say those texts were about the Christmas Eve ambush.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Verizon Wireless worker took the stand. He testified about text messages sent from a phone number registered to Dawn Nguyen to a friend.

On Christmas Eve 2012 around 5:50 p.m., that’s 12 hour after the firefighters were shot and two lost their lives in the line of duty, the jurors heard one text message that said, “Dude, Billy was at my house three weeks ago. I wake up at 9 and know for sure who is doing it.”  A minute later from the same phone, registered to Nguyen, another message says in part, “He definitely had it planned.”

Earlier Tuesday, the jury heard from an ATF special agent who says he found a rifle and shotgun at the scene on Lake Road on Christmas Eve. While police say William Spengler actually pulled the trigger, killing two firefighters and injuring two others, Nguyen is accused of buying the guns for her former neighbor, William Spengler, who was a convicted felon.  The ATF agent told the jury that the serial numbers on the weapons match the serial numbers for the guns the prosecution says Nguyen bought from Gander Mountain in Henrietta in June 2010.

As for Nguyen, she stayed focused on day two of testimony. Her family sat behind her. She has yet to turn to address them, but she does look attentive during the trial.
