There's been a lot of debate about medical marijuana -- and on Monday it appeared the bill to legalize it may have hit a dead end. But on Tuesday, our affiliate says the sponsor of the bill is trying to force a vote.

According to a report in the Buffalo News, Assembly leader Sheldon Silver -- who supports the bills -- says it doesn't look promising for the Compassion Care Act, right now during the 2014 session.

Supporters for the bill claim there's still a chance for lawmakers to take action -- once they return from vacation on April 23. The 2014 session ends in mid June.

However, the sponsor of the bill says she has a plan to force a vote. According to our affiliate WGRZ in Buffalo, Senator Diane Savino has filed a "Motion for Petition Consideration," which is a procedure could force a vote on the stalled bill in the Health Committee.

Savino says there are enough votes to pass the bill in the Senate at this time, but the currently the bill is stuck in that committee.
