More than 60 teachers in Spencerport are calling for major changes to the new common core learning standards.
The teachers at Cosgrove Middle School signed a petition against this year’s grades 3-8 ELA and math tests saying they are “a waste of time and money, traumatize students and create unnecessary stress.”
The petition was sent to State Education Commissioner John King and Governor Andrew Cuomo calling on them to get rid of the exams or be held accountable for their quality by releasing them to the public for scrutiny.
