Ten people are facing charges following a welfare fraud crackdown in Livingston County.
Sheriff’s deputies tell News10NBC the sheriff’s office made an agreement with the Department of Social Services to crackdown on people abusing the welfare system. Since the agreement was made in January, 10 people have been arrested.
According to investigators, all the cases revolve around some type of abuse of the welfare system from falsifying applications, to identity theft, to the theft of public assistance checks.
Deputies ask if you have information regarding welfare recipients fraudulent collecting benefits, please call investigators at 585-243-7100.
The following people have been arrested:
David Taylor, criminal use of a public benefit card
Brenda K. West, identity theft,
Robert Hyde, criminal use of a public benefit card
Kathryn Smith, identity theft
James Sullivan, welfare fraud and grand larceny
Timothy Dieffenbacher, petit larceny
Julie E. Bennett, welfare fraud and grand larceny
Mellissa Johnson, welfare fraud and petit larceny
Christine Veaunt, welfare fraud
Mindy Rolfe, identity theft
