Father’s Day is a special day for many of us, but it’s especially true for those with dad’s battling cancer.

Jim Kelly’s daughter Erin appeared on ESPN on Sunday to talk about her dad. On this Father’s Day, the Kelly daughters are just happy to be able to hug their father. The daughter of the Hall of Fame quarterback talked about her dad’s battle with cancer and what it means to be “Kelly Tough.”

Kelly’s battle with cancer has been well documented. The 54-year-old found out in March that his cancer had returned. Kelly then underwent an aggressive, six-week long treatment to battle his recurring mouth cancer.

Kelly returned home from the hospital earlier this week. The doctors say they need to wait two to three months to determine the next step for Kelly, but his daughter Erin says she’s just glad to share Father’s Day with her dad.

“I have an entirely new perspective on what Father’s Day is. Father’s Day would roll around when I was younger, and I would make my own little, homemade card, but my dad has been fighting for his life the past few months, and now I just have this whole new perspective on what Father’s Day is actually about,” said Erin.
