Three men are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Livingston County.
Sheriff’s deputies tell us they stopped 37-year-old David Vattes of Olean on Route 15 in Avon for a traffic violation Monday night. During an investigation, deputies say they learned Vattes had a suspended driver’s license. We’re also told he was in possession of heroin and hypodermic needles. Deputies say Vattes was under the influence of drugs at the time of the stop. He's charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, DWAI-Drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.
Two occupants in the vehicle, 32-year-old Samuel Kelley of Olean and 40-year-old Karl Vattes of Belfast, were also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.
Kelley and David Vattes are being held in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. Karl Vattes is being held without bail due to past felony convictions.
