News10NBC is learning more about a summer program to mentor young men in the Rochester City School District.

Roland Williams announced a ten day Summer Champion Academy for 500 students. The Super Bowl champion and East High School graduate says, in addition to athletic initiatives, he hopes the program will make students more respectful and college ready.

Thirty four thousand dollars in funding for the program is coming from the school district. Williams say he will be fundraising and gathering volunteers in the next couple weeks.

Roland Williams said, “I’m a football guy, so I like to go out and make plays. When I see a problem, I like to go out and attack it. I think there is so many people that I’ve met in the community and have heard from and everyone is ready for me to proceed now, so I’m moving forward.”
