A teacher, who is also a championship track and field coach, is charged with driving drunk with her young children in the car. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested Carolyn Garger after she hit a car and then crashed into a ditch.

The children in her car were under 15-years-old. Because of that, she is charged with a felony under Leandra’s Law.

The sheriff’s office says Garger hit another car on Route 20A, just outside the village of Geneseo and then ended up in the ditch a little further east. The three kids in her car were her children. The oldest is in eighth grade.

News10NBC went to Garger’s house in Livonia and knocked on the door, but if anyone was in the house, they did not answer.

Garger is facing three counts of aggravated DWI because her blood alcohol content was 0.19. The legal limit is 0.08. She is also facing three counts of Leandra’s Law DWI because the judge, who arraigned her, said the children in her car were all under 15-years-old.

Garger is a teacher in Mount Morris. Her school biography says she also coached track and field, winning seven Section V Championships. Her biography also says she has three daughters in the fifth, sixth and eighth grade.

Garger bailed out of jail Friday morning. According to her school biography, she has been at the Mount Morris School District for 25 years.

Mount Morris Central School District Superintendent Dawn Mirand issued a statement saying, "The school district became aware of the issue this morning and has reached out to the sheriff’s department and asked for all documents and information related to this case. It is inappropriate to speak further on this matter until we have had the opportunity to review all details and to speak with the employee. We are conducting our own investigation and there has been no determination made yet on the employee’s status with the school district."
