A doctor for former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly says that preliminary initial examinations show that his sinus cancer treatment appears to be successful. He says that tests on the Hall of Famer show no evidence of cancer.

Kelly was in New York City for tests on Tuesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments for sinus cancer.

"The treatments so far have completely eliminated Mr. Kelly's pain, and his level of function has essentially returned to normal," Dr. Peter Constantino, Executive Director of hte New York Head and Neck Institute at Lenox Hill Hospital said in a statement. "Further, on physical examination, there is no evidence of cancer."

The statement also said that over the coming week, Kelly will undergo further tests to determine if more treatment is needed. Doctors, however, say it’s possible that Kelly's treatment will be complete.

Kelly's wife, Jill, released the following statement on her Instagram page:

"We have come away from our checkup visit in NYC encouraged and hopeful. Preliminary scan results have necessitated the need for biopsies to be done in order to confirm what we hope to be true...that the cancer has been eradicated. We will not know the outcome until this procedure is completed. And so... We continue to PRAY, rejoice, live...wait and trust GOD who holds ALL things together. God, who is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End and every moment in between. In the midst of it all, I know He's got this. Thank you for praying! Thank you for holding us up during this time. We are so grateful for you! #prayersforjk #kellytough"

Sports Director Justin Granit will have complete reports on Kelly's health tonight on News10NBC at 5 & 6.
