A Rochester neighborhood is on edge following a home invasion and shooting that took place around 4:30 Saturday morning on Seth Green Drive.
Neighbors of the victim are concerned that the suspect is still out there and could be armed and dangerous.
Mark Holt said, “Hopefully they can catch this guy and get his fingerprints or whatever, because now it leaves the question, where is he? We could be the next people.”
Holt lives up the street from the apartment complex where a 60-year-old man was shot. He said he did not hear gunshots, but did see police lining Seth Green Drive around 5 a.m.
Police say the incident began as a home invasion and say the suspect attempted to force his way into the apartment when the resident fought back and was shot in the lower torso. We’re told the victim was transported by Rural Metro to Strong Hospital. At this time, police say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Investigators have been interviewing the victim at the hospital, trying to figure out why he was targeted by the suspect. According to police, it’s not clear if the victim and the suspect knew each other.
With no one in custody yet following the incident, neighbors say they’re afraid the alleged shooter will come back.
“I hope to God they find this guy. It’s scary. It’s scary out there and it comes to a point where this guy could come out and do it again,” said Holt.
Police say the suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information about what happened or where the suspect may be is urged to call police.
