 WASHINGTON (AP) - The first officer in a February airline crash that killed 50 people in upstate New York was living with her parents in Seattle and commuting across the country to her job.
Testimony on the second day of a three-day National Transportation Safety Board hearing raised the possibility that fatigue was a factor in the deadly crash.
Co-pilot Rebecca Shaw, 24, was working out of Newark Liberty International Airport. The night before the accident she flew overnight as a passenger from Seattle, changing planes in Memphis, to report to work in Newark.
Testimony indicates Shaw and Captain Marvin Renslow made several fundamental mistakes as Continental Connection Flight 3407 approached Buffalo Niagara International Airport in wintry weather the night of February 12.
