Two Rush Henrietta High School students die

Counselors reached out to students Monday, after two Rush Henrietta High School students were killed in separate car accidents over the weekend.

One of the students, Keyon Robinson-Powell, 17, was a sophomore at the high school. He was new to the district.

Robinson-Powell was hit by a car Saturday night on Lehigh Station Road. Police say he was in the road, near the curb with two friends. The three were wearing dark clothing when they were struck by an off-duty Rochester police officer who couldn’t see them.

News 10NBC talked to Mayor Duffy about the tragedy. He said, “I would say there is a whole lot of trauma on this one for everyone involved. The young man who lost his life…his family has to be severely traumatized, and the off-duty officer, I couldn’t think of anything worse than driving a vehicle and have someone lose their life.”

A 2008 Rush Henrietta High School graduate, Abigail Pruitt, 19, died Saturday in a head-on crash in the Adirondacks.

These pictures were taken by the “Adirondack Daily Enterprise.”

State Police say Pruitt was a passenger in the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pruitt was a sophomore at Paul Smith’s College near Lake Placid.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash.
