Fire at a high-rise apartment building in Brighton
Hundreds of people were evacuated after a fire at the Renaissance apartment building on East Avenue in Brighton. Fire officials say it started in an eighth floor apartment. The woman living there called 911 around 8:45 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the apartment was filled with smoke and fire. Everyone was able to get out okay but there is smoke damage on the eighth floor and water damage throughout the building.
At this point, the fire chief has not released an official cause of the fire.
