Heart patients: "Don't phase out Phase III"

WHEC-TVThe lobby of a Brighton medical building filled up with dozens of heart patients this morning. Many of them were carrying signs that said, "Don't phase out Phase III".

Phase III is a fitness program run by Strong Hospital where nurses oversee heart patients as they exercise. It's slated to be eliminated.

Strong officials say it would be cheaper for the 400 patients to exercise at regular health clubs but they say that's penny wise, pound foolish.

The hospital spokesperson told us earlier this week per patient, the program costs $2,400 a year, and re-imbursement is just $800.
