The driver, Munir Muthana, is in jail charged with assault and DWI. Police say he had been drinking before he tried to deliberately run people over with his car. One victim told us today she couldn’t sleep last night. She can still see the driver's face as he was driving towards her. She says she panicked and got out of her car but that put her right in the cross hairs. “He was coming towards me he was going to hit me. Then I looked and I seen the car and I ran behind the car and he looked the same way I looked and he just hit the car and just put the car right over me, I was like up under the car.” Deborah Hollis was pinned under the car in the parking lot of the Sunoco station on South Plymouth Avenue. She said she thought the driver was going to go after her again, so she ran Eventually police chased down Muthana and caught him at Brooks and Genesee Street. Hollis said, “I couldn't believe this guy. He don't even know me and he tried to hit me. I was like that was crazy man. Crazy. I had the lord to thank for that. The lord, somebody was with me, angels or somebody. I could of swore I was dead.” Muthana is charged with assault, DIW and reckless driving. In his statements to police he said he drank six cans of Budweiser in an hour. Then he started using swear words, cussing police and government. He said, "Ben Franklin was stupid. He should have made it so you expletive can't swerve the law. The Muslims will fix this country." Bail was set at $20,000. The prosecutor told us Muthana has ties to Yemen. Late this morning, News 10NBC found out why Muthana may have lost it. According to the police reports, he got a prostitute Thursday afternoon. It was a person he thought was a woman but who was really a man and people started making fun of him. That's when he got in his car and the whole thing started.
