Members of the Rochester Home Builders Association and the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors say they are optimistic about the future of the local economy because the Rochester area never experienced a huge decline in the housing market. Ryan Tcholski, a housing market expert, says, “Things have really changed in not even a 12 month period. We’re seeing a rise in numbers and sales which is good. The market is still pretty low risk in Rochester, which is great, not unexpected, and we’re very optimistic for 2010.” Rick Herman of the Rochester Home Builders Association says, “Certainly there’s been a bit of a down turn from last year, but when you look around the country, we’re doing very, very well. So we’re pleased. We see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Real estate experts expect the first time home buyers’ incentive and the new federal tax credit will continue to have a positive impact on the market.
