Mean streets
Reporter Bob Schaper got to see firsthand why Rockford, Illinois is considered, by some, one of the most dangerous cities in America.
Using the latest data from the FBI, Washington-based CQ Press says Rockford is the 31st most crime-ridden city in the United States with populations more than 75,000.
Statistics are always open for interpretation, but almost every Rockford resident Schaper talked with while researching the story had a personal experience with crime, and it ended when Schaper became a victim himself.
A woman told Schaper to move along because she "couldn't make any money with him standing there."
Then she attacked his camera.
Last year the same survey ranked Rockford 44th.
