A man in his 20’s is facing charges after sheriff’s deputies say he hit another man with a baseball bat. Police say the attack happened on January 30 at a gas station on Monroe Avenue in Pittsford.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies say it started when the victim and the suspect – 24-year-old Richard Xamountry of Henrietta – began exchanging text messages back and forth. According to investigators, one of the message sent by Xamountry stated that he was outside of the victim's place of work.

When the victim tried to leave work, he noticed one of his tires had been punctured. He drove to a nearby gas station to put air in his tire when deputies say Xamountry showed up and approached him with a baseball bat.

Police say a struggle ensued and Xamountry hit the victim with the baseball bat, causing injuries.

Xamountry is charged with second-degree assault.
